BYERS CHOICE 2004 Ocracoke Lighthouse Boy Caroler (Ltd Ed) |Byers Choice | Reviews
Product Overview
This exclusive Caroler was created by Byers' Choice for Abigail's to commemorate North Carolina's historic lighthouses. The original 55-foot light was built of wood in the late 1700's and destroyed by lightning in 1818. The current 76-foot tall Ocracoke Lighthouse is the smallest, yet oldest, active lighthouse in the state. Built in 1823 of brick and covered in masonry, the lighthouse has always been painted a brilliant whitewash that guides the mariners through the Ocracoke Inlet. The pirate Edward "Blackbeard" Teach used Ocracoke Harbor as his hideout while he pillaged the North Carolina coastline.
